Malta - Day 3

The weather is hot! We dodge the sun and seek shade. We take two full water bottles everywhere and drink frequently. On our second full day in Malta we decided to walk from our guesthouse to St. Peter’s Pool. It was about a 45 minute walk to the pool - uphilll most of the way. As we didn’t start until about 10:00 a.m. it was getting quite warm. As we neared the turn for the pool, Tim spied a lighthouse so we walked on. We went past some kind of battlement complete with empty moat and motion cameras. The lighthouse was not that spectacular so we walked back to the turn. We were beginning to run out of water! We persisted and marched on to St. Peter’s Pool - how it got its name, we have no idea. We stayed at the top of the path as it was rocky and very challenging. There were a number of young people around who were swimming in the sea. Tim got some great photos and we walked back having one sip of water at a time. After that we had a long rest.

In the evening we went to one of the restaurants on the harbour. We began with a caprese salad with burratta cheese instead of boccancini. Then Tim had a seafood platter with a whole fish staring him in the face and Marija had a delicious boulliabase. We strolled along the harbour taking in all the sights after dinner.
