Catania continued

Tim went out to pick up our pastries. We had purchased coffee and milk so we could make lattes at home. Unfortunately it was raining so we opted for a visit to an immersive Klimt Exhibition. It was lovely. We had seen the original of “The Kiss” at the Belvedere in Vienna.

After the exhibit we bought two umbrellas so we could walk around. We popped in and out of interesting shops. The weather eventually cleared so we went to a sight which we had passed on the bus.

Called “The Chimneys”, it was an industrial steel fabrication area which had been decommissioned, abandoned, and rejuvenated into a civic centre. While some parts seem empty, others have been turned into banks of condos and others into a series of museums.

The one we opted for was a Cinematography Museum. It was very interesting. There were cupboard doors which opened to show the inventions from the first photograph by Luminiere to movies with colour and sound. Then we moved into a small theatre to watch a very creative movie about the movies. The next group of rooms were mock-ups of different sets - a kitchen, the godfather’s office, a bedroom with bedroom scenes playing on a tv on the bed, a living room, etc. It was very effective.

We had supper and walked around the downtown including a high end shopping street.
