Lovely Limassol - Cyprus
At Cyprus we docked and took a shuttle provided by Oceania which ran us into the city. We stopped close to the old town but chose to walk for several km. Along the waterfront. Limossol is on the Cyprian Riviera and has many tall apartments and multiple hotels all along a sandy beach. As we were tired of the sun we walked back to the old town.

Not many shops were open but we wandered the streets seeking the shade. We found a lovely Orthodox Church with wonderful mosaics and a detailed ceiling.

There was a very interesting fort which we explored. We also looked for a very old church which we thought we had visited in 2017 but it must have been in Paphos. As it was so hot we gave up and headed back to the ship.

We left late in the afternoon. The opening to the harbour is very narrow so we were closely supervised. One tug actually attached a line and pulled our stern away from the dock. Some harbours insist that a local pilot actually boards the ship to navigate out of the harbour. There was a Greek naval vessel in the harbour.

After another yummy dinner we watched “A Man and His Piano” - an entertainers who sang songs by Elton John, Billy Joel and others.

A word about the dining room - there are several. The Terrace Cafe which has buffets morning, noon and evening. After two days Marija gave up and took to the small cafe out by the pool where she enjoyed a latte, lots of fruit and maybe a croissant. Tim usually opted for an omelet, coffee, fruit, bacon etc. At lunch the Terrance Cafe featured sushi, hot entrees, soup, cold cuts, cheese, a daily power bowl option and lots more. There were 6 varieties of ice cream and gelato on a daily basis as well as desserts which were irresistible.

In the evening there were four restaurants - The Tuscany - featuring a formal dining experience and the Polo Grilll with all manner of steaks and other meats. One needed to make a reservation for either of these restaurants and we went to each one once. For dinner there was the Terrace Cafe with all the usual food but also special features - one night it was Greek, another Indian. Finally, there was the Grand Dining Room where you could opt to sit alone or share a table. We chose to share on most occasions and met many interesting people. This dining room was much more formal and featured a different menu with a number of choices each evening. We dined here on several occasions. One highlight was the daily soufflĂ© specialty with Marija’s favorite being the Grand Marnier soufflĂ© with orange sauce! Delicious! We had to learn to take small bites of everything as it was all delicious.
