Day 2 of the Islands - Mitlilini

We went on shore at Mitilini, more commonly known as Lesbos. It is the second-largest of the Greek Islands, the largest being Crete. It was a very warm day which started with Tim completing one thing necessary to all our holidays - he lost his hat - not because he misplaced it but because the wind blew it out a window at the fortress!
These photos are out of order but the first one is of the band during the evening entertainment. The second one, above, is a house in the town.
After a ten-minute uphill walk we came upon a ruined Ottoman fortress. The trees below were planted in neat rows and gave great shade.

There is our ship take through the window where the wind disposed of Tim’s hat. Below is the crypt. Very extensive but very cool - temperature-wise.

After a tour of the fortress we headed into the town. Lots of narrow walking streets with little shops everywhere.
After

There were two lovely Orthodox churches which warranted exploring. Here are a few photos of them.

We meet new people every day as we walk around, take the tender and roam around the ship. Unfortunately someone had started work on a jigsaw puzzle and so Marija jumped right in! Tim was busy socializing, having a nap, coffee and snapping pictures.
Every meal is an adventure with the big problem being dessert. There are usually about 6 choices of ice cream or gelato, fruit, and then about 8 delicious looking desserts. Bananas Foster, Coconut Rhum Baba, Key Lime pie and a fresh-fruit custard slice were a few of the choices.
Our evening ended with a performance by a guitarist who played everything from flamenco to the William Tell Overture!
